An Investigation in Stock Performance of NVIDIA, QUALCOMM, And Intel Corporation
I would like this competitive analysis to investigate why Nvidia's stock is soaring and why Qualcomm's stock appears to be underperforming
Intel Corp has been on a steady decline since 2021. What is going on with Intel Corporation the once Titan in Semiconductors?
Nvidia Corporation's stock has been soaring all of 2023 and soared all of 2022 while Qualcomm Inc's stock has remained relatively flat.
Competition Intensity
5 Companies appear to be market leaders in the Semiconductor and Semiconductor Equipment space with intel dominating since 2015. What's interesting about this is total revenue does not seem to be in correlation with stock prices. Intel stock price steadily decreased from $50.00 down to 22$ in 2022 but Nvidia's stock price started the year off in the $260.00 range bottoming out in the $120 range. Why is NVidia’s stock doing so well in relation to Intel and Qualcomm when they appear to be doing better financially?
Enterprise Rankings
Intel is the largest semiconductor company with Qualcomm coming in second place and NVIDIA coming in 5th place. If you look at these rankings in relation to the enterprise rankings on the next slide Intel isn't even on the list in terms of the most profitable companies. That would explain why their stock as dropped so much. Even though NVIDIA comes in 5th for size it comes in 3rd for profit which might explain why the stock is doing so well.
Conclusion
Ultimately I believe Qualcomm is an undervalued stock. The company's financial condition is good and its profitability is strong. The stock price should be performing better in relation to its competitors.
I believe NVIDIA is an Overvalued stock and its stock price is borderline meme territory. While the company is doing very well financially and is growing I can't explain why the stock price is 4x the price of Qualcomm. The only explanation is speculation of its segment in the Artificial Intelligence Space.
Intel Corporation appears to be in trouble if you're looking at the numbers which explains their underperforming stock price. I would not be an investor based on the competitive analysis.
